What Constitutes a Good & Positive Affirmation?

There is no black and white solution.

Regrettably, there is no definitive answer to the question, “What constitutes a good positive affirmation?” since what constitutes a life-changing positive affirmation for one person may have no effect on another. Finding a “good” positive affirmation may be challenging, and I use the qualifier “good” since various affirmations work for different individuals.

Do not despair if you have not yet discovered the ideal positive affirmation for you! Simply because there is no one-size-fits-all solution to this issue does not mean that there aren’t specific steps you can take to discover a positive affirmation that is right for you. I believe it is really beneficial that there is no definitive answer to what constitutes a good positive affirmation, since this implies that there is no right or wrong response. When you discover an affirmation that resonates with you, you’ve discovered a powerful positive affirmation.

How Do You Begin?

By definition, affirmations seem to be very easy, since we just choose a positive phrase to assist in reinforcing our objectives throughout our human experience. Finding a phrase that speaks to our inner essence is not always simple, so here are some suggestions on how to discover a positive affirmation that is right for you.

Conduct Research

Spend time online and offline studying positive affirmations. Read inspirational books, websites, and blogs in search of a message that calls to you. Visit libraries and/or bookshops’ self-help sections to sift through books in quest of a positive message. Additionally, pay careful attention to others around you, since you never know when someone may say something that speaks to you. Do not be hesitant to take your time with this stage, since it may take some time to locate the affirmation that was intended to transform your life.

Let Cynicism Go

If you do not think a positive affirmation will work, the likelihood is that it will not. Our tendency to cling to negativity is not a strength, since it ultimately serves no purpose. If you think that no matter how smart, witty, or moving a remark is, it will have no effect on your human development, you will have a difficult time finding positive affirmations.

Investigate What You Already Know You Enjoy

There are many positive affirmations available, ranging from song quotations to poetry, from funny to gloomy, spiritual to cynical, so pick one that fits your way of life. If you know what you like—poetry, talks, religion, movies, or anything else—try searching for an affirmation in these materials. Additionally, if you are aware that you like a certain genre of insight, do not be afraid to search for an affirmation that fits your own preferences, whether they include dark humor or metaphorical poetry.

Have Multiple Affirmations

Who says you must have a single affirmation? Or that you are even required to maintain the same affirmation? If you realize that the affirmation you’ve chosen has ceased to inspire you, seek out another. Additionally, it may be beneficial to have a variety of affirmations on hand, so that you can cycle through them as time passes.
